Inspired by collaborative efforts such as CaveMAB (https://cavemab.com/2021-2/), this campaign invites participants worldwide to explore, understand, and protect caves and karst through simple, creative, and impactful activities.

What is IDCK?

IDCK aims to:

 

• Raise global awareness

• Promote education and research

• Strengthen conservation efforts

• Encourage international collaboration

The first official global celebration will take place in Postojna, Slovenia, in September 2026.

What is this initiative?

This is a global educational movement that connects schools, communities and organisations through:

​

• Hands-on activities

• Creative learning experiences

• Local awareness actions

• A collaborative global video

 

Everyone can participate in their own way, using the resources available.

The activities presented below are suggestions designed to support engagement, but participants are strongly encouraged to adapt, expand or create new initiatives according to their local context, culture and capacities.

• Organise local workshops

• Discuss underground pollution and conservation

• Encourage youth-led awareness campaigns

• Present results in schools, libraries, museums or online

Be part of a collaborative global video!

 

Participants are invited to:

• Record short videos (1–2 minutes)

• Show activities and local actions

• Share messages about caves and karst

 

Tip: As Cave Week (1–7 June), organised by the National Cave and Karst Research Institute (https://nckri.org/cave-week/), is one of our partner initiatives, we recommend using it as a key moment to produce and share videos.

Please ensure authorisation for image use (image rights/consent), especially for children and minors.

The final video will be presented at the official IDCK celebration in Postojna, Slovenia, on 13 September 2026.
