In accordance with Article 3 (Purpose) and Article 9 (Commissions) of the Statutes of the International Union of Speleology (UIS), the Speleological Education for Children and Youth Commission has the following objectives:

To promote speleology among children and youth as a multidisciplinary field that integrates science, culture, sports, environmental awareness, and heritage preservation.

To foster international cooperation among speleologists, educators, and institutions dedicated to educating children and adolescents in caves, karst, and related environments.

To develop and disseminate educational resources, pedagogical strategies, and didactic tools to introduce speleological knowledge and values to young people in formal and non-formal settings.

To encourage awareness and responsibility in the protection and sustainable use of the world’s speleological and karst heritage, and to cultivate ethical behaviour and respect for nature from an early age.

To support capacity building by organising workshops, seminars, and training for teachers, instructors, and youth leaders engaged in speleological education.

To stimulate curiosity and engagement through activities that connect young people with the underground world in a safe, inclusive, and inspiring way.

To document and share successful experiences and educational models, contributing to the advancement of speleological education globally and reinforcing UIS’s mission to promote all aspects of speleology.
